George Orwell

Dark Fable Political Satire Dystopian Fiction English

English novelist and essayist whose work cut through the comfortable myths of his time. His writing — precise, unsparing, and deeply human — remains as relevant today as when it was first published.

About

Eric Arthur Blair, known by his pen name George Orwell, was born in British India in 1903. He worked as an imperial policeman in Burma, fought in the Spanish Civil War, and lived among the poor and dispossessed in Paris and London before finding his voice as one of the twentieth century's most important writers.

His fiction is deceptively simple. Animal Farm reads like a children's fable. But beneath the surface of talking animals and a rebellious farm lies a precise and devastating anatomy of how revolutions betray their ideals — how the language of liberation becomes the instrument of oppression.

Orwell's work is published on MekarBooks through Glimmr Tales, an indie imprint specialising in dark fairytales and classic fiction — presented in clean digital editions, independently published.
