Akira Toriyama

Akira Toriyama was a Japanese manga artist and character designer best known for creating Dragon Ball, one of the best-selling and most influential manga series of all time. Serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995, Dragon Ball followed the martial artist Goku through training, tournaments, and battles against increasingly powerful foes, helping define the modern shōnen action genre.

Beyond Dragon Ball, Toriyama created the manga Dr. Slump and contributed character designs to major video game franchises, including Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger. His art style and storytelling had a lasting influence on generations of manga and anime creators worldwide.
