Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was a French writer, poet, and pioneering aviator. His experiences flying mail routes across Europe, Africa, and South America shaped much of his writing, which combined adventure, philosophy, and a deep sense of human connection.
He is best known for The Little Prince (translated into Indonesian as Pangeran Kecil or Pangeran Cilik), a novella about a young prince who travels from planet to planet. Beneath its simple, fable-like style, the book explores themes of loneliness, love, loss, and the difference between how children and adults see the world. It remains one of the most translated books in publishing history.
Saint-Exupéry disappeared during a reconnaissance flight over the Mediterranean in 1944, during World War II. His combination of literary sensitivity and lived adventure has made his work enduringly popular across generations and languages.
