About

Daniel Kahneman was an Israeli-American psychologist and one of the founders of behavioral economics. His research, much of it conducted with longtime collaborator Amos Tversky, examined the cognitive biases and mental shortcuts that shape human judgment and decision-making, fundamentally challenging the assumption of rational decision-making in traditional economics.

In 2002, Kahneman was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for this work, despite never having taken a course in economics. His best-known book, Thinking, Fast and Slow, distills decades of research into an accessible account of the two systems that drive human thinking — one fast and intuitive, the other slow and deliberate — and has become one of the most influential popular science books of the 21st century.
